After a very disorganised first lesson for my daughter, I left a negative Google review for the Toby Haenen Swimming Centre in Sandringham. I then recieved a phone call the next day telling me that my duaghter was no longer welcome at the centre. So their desire to teach young kids to swim is less than their self pity, dummy spitting attitude displayed by petulant staff. Read their google reviews - there are other incidents that cite rude behaviour from the poorly trained staff at Toby Haenen.

I attended Toby Haenen Swim Centre in Sandringham and was told by Carly in reception to wait in a designated area where our instructor would meet us. Either they forgot we existed or we were given the wrong information, my daughter was forgotten about and sat on the side of the pool for a further 20 minutes, missing most of her lesson before I raised it with the staff. I was then made to feel like I was in the wrong and should have known the procedure (although I had never been there before). If all of this was not enough, my daughter was then kicked out of the swimming class by one of Tony Haenen's rude and arrogant staff "Dylan" who objected to the negative review I had left online. He chose to take out his anger on a 9-year-old girl who was learning to swim - cancelling her subscription to the centre and refunding our money. It's astonishing in 2024 that any business can conduct themselves in this manner. The atmosphere inside the facility is one of complete chaos as lack of organisation. The instructors themselves seemed to range between the ages of 13-16 years old and I didn't see any additional life guards looking out for kids in who may be in trouble etc.
