Charged for nothing

I called and told the receptionist I wanted some therapy sessions and I needed a referral she advised I make an appointment with my GP. I did that, they called and told me they couldn’t get me a referral that I’d have to make an appointment with another doc to get this referral, as he couldn’t help me. It was a two minute call.

Shortly after the call I received an email saying that same GP who told me he couldn’t assist me, wanted me to pay $40 for his ‘service.’

What service? He told me he couldn’t provide me a service, he couldn’t assist me. And that was fine I understood but then to get that email after? Very astounded, very confused as to how that 2 minute ‘I’m sorry can’t assist’ phone call was worth $40. That’s the most expensive two minute phone call. I’m not sure if it’s an automated email regardless, system needs some fixing somewhere. Not going to pay for a service I did not receive. What is this clown show.

Was told to come back for a follow up appointment which I thought would look further into my issue but instead was told all was well and then I had to pay $85 for the privilege of that information when a phone call would have sufficed or tell me in my first appointment that if the meds worked there was no need to come back in. I asked for a repeat script incase my symptoms came back just to tide me over as I couldn’t afford time off work and was told I would have to book another appointment in that circumstance. Completely unnecessary to charge that much for a follow up, feel like they don’t care about the patients, just looking for you to spend more money on unnecessary appointments.

I have been attending SIA for over 20 years from the days when Dr Sia was taking most patients. I have had Dr Brodsky and Dr Tan to name a few who have been wonderful to deal with. Today at 710am I saw Dr Tran for the first time. I was welcomed with a lovely smile by the lady doctor but all went down hill from there. I had been suffering with asthma since Wednesday of last week and thought it was under control. I was away for the weekend and it got worse hence was at the doctors this morning first thing. I told Dr Tran that I had been using my seretide a few times a day. Dr Tran gave me a lecture and said I was doing it wrong. When she told me what to do she said now repeat what I said. I did and was wrong. She said it again and again said now repeat what I said. I felt like a 63 year old naughty school child. She prescribed me predislone for 3 days then again said to repeat what she said. I mentioned the seretide and ventolin but was told off again for not mentioning the predislone. Dr Tran then told me if it gets worse take a puff of ventolin and ring an ambulance because I could die. She asked if I had an asthma plan I said I’m not sure. None was offered nor if Dr Tran was so concerned I would forget what to do why would she not type it out for me. I was sick, tired and all I wanted was a compassionate consultation from a doctor not treated like a naughty child. Will not be seeing this doctor again until her manner changes.

Convenient location, but waiting times have got out of hand - always 30-45mins...will have to find another clinic if it continues like this

Many of the doctors are impersonal, only found a couple to be good like Vincent

The doctors at Sia medical clinic are excellent, especially dr tran, highly recommend booking an appointment into see him.
The big downfall of the clinic are the incompetent, rude and unfriendly receptionists. Here are examples of my experience to date :
Ringing to make an appointment and the receptionist was yelling down the phone for me to speak up as she couldn't hear me. I was at home in a quiet environment whereas she was in a crowded waiting room. Her approach was unprofessional and uncalled for.
Waiting to pay for an appointment and the receptionist continued to take her nail polish off while I stood there and waited. Customer didn't come first in this scenario
The last experience is that the clinic lost the results of my blood test. The receptionist promised to follow up and call me back. She never did and has yet to return my calls.
I am now thank ful that they have introduced online booking so I don't have to deal with the receptionists.

My feedback is that they also introduce online payment and look to replace all the receptionists with competent customer friendly humans.

Have been going to SIA Medical Centre for 10 years now and always have good service. I am surprised to see what others are writing. Have also started using their Dental practise and find Dr Sam very approachable and kid friendly. Never have to wait longer than 15 mins for bulk billing visits and occasionally make apt if time is an issue. Today waited about 4 minutes and was seen by Dr Mansour who is a lovely man. I have never had a Doctor who was not easy to talk to and attentive to my concerns. Not too sure what other people expect but we as a family are very happy at SIA.

Such a poor doctor clinic. I only go there to get sick certificates for work only!
Staff are rude and doctors are useless.
Anyone that has more serve symptoms than common cold should go else where, you will find no treatment here!

I am happily a former client of sia medical centre Essendon. I have never encountered such apathy displayed by apparent "medical professionals". It is only to be matched by the appalling level of services provided by the receptionists who would rather engage in personal conversations amongst themselves then deal with waiting clients. Oh yeah bulk billing is until 6pm, and as such Doctors will stop seeing clients at 5:40pm so they are able to charge a $72 fee for seeing you after 6pm. I would not advise my worst enemy to attend this clinic it is abysmal and the employees and operators should be ashamed.

Approximate cost: $73
