Recently had a weekend up the Gold Coast and stayed at Royal Pines. Found the rooms to be nice and the staff very friendly. Maybe slightly overpriced for us but all the same we had a great time.

Made a booking through a mystery deal and given a great price on a double room. The front desk staff are very friendly and efficient. The resort is quiet, clean and has above standard facilities. The pool area is large and pool was heated. A seperate playground means many of the children are not always at the pool, giving you peace if you're lucky enough to get away without the kids as we did! Drink service at the pool a bit iffy...although the girls are lovely they were making cocktails whilst studying the menu carefully, presumably little experience in the actual bar service. A language barrier with the girls also meant a drink order took 3-4 minutes. Pity the poor man before that ordered 4 drinks and 4 meals before me, this ordeal took him 10 minutes while I waited. But they were friendly. The service at the Hydrate bar was atrocious, See seperate review of this business as it is not fair to tarnish the great service of the entire resort because of this. Very pleased that no matter where you go in the resort (pool, bar, eateries), all drink prices remain the same. Will return.

Approximate cost: $125

This was actually one of the nicest weekend getaways I have had with my family. We decided to stay here based on a good review my brother had given me of the place and was pleasantly surprised as how lovely this resort is. I was a little worried we would get bored as it is quite a bit out from Surfers Paradise but they actually run free shuttles into Surfers several times a day which is great. We didn't even end up needing it as we found the resort had plenty to entertain us for the whole weekend without leaving. The rooms are modern and comfortable, I would say the bathrooms could do with a little updating though. The pool area is great, a small pool for kids, a couple of slides a pool menu with really yummy food. There are so many dining options here. We went to the Italian restaurant which was lovely and the Teppenyaki restaurant which was fantastic. The resort is set on a gold course and one morning we went for breakfast at the cafe they have which is right on the first tee and it was just such a nice experience sitting there having breakfast watching people tee off on a beautiful day. The best part for me was the really cool playground they have for kids, I have two little ones and they absolutely loved it, the jumping pillow is the coolest thing ever. I will be going back to this place and next time I'm going for longer because a weekend is just not enough.
