I got a recommendation to use this hairdresser when my usual one went on maternity leave. I called her first and gave her all the info my previous hairdresser gave me (colour brand and volume number) & she confirmed she could do my hair the same. This is a home salon, but with a purpose built facility in the back yard. I went for a full head of foils & she told me she was trying a new technique she'd just learnt (on a brand new customer?). Once the foils came off & my hair was dry you could see they had not been close enough at the front & it already looked like I had re-growth. She offered to fix it there & then which was fine but meant another hour and a half hours (after the initial 4). It was all rushed as she had her sister waiting for her at her house. Because of this she didn't charge me & just wanted me to give her another chance in the future. When I got home and looked in the mirror, I had orange banding in 2 places round one side of my hair - where the foils had slipped and the colour hadn't processed. I tied it back but the next day at work so many people noticed it that I called her and she told me to go & see her that night. She admitted that she should never have tried the new foiling technique & had rushed my hair & would now fix it by low lighting the orange sections. Instead of doing just the parts that were needed she told me she was going to 'clean' my highlights all the way down (my hair was right down my back) & once she'd finished it was a lot darker - and still orange. To fix it she put a toner through my hair which then turned by creamy highlights grey (and the orange banding was still there!). It was at this point I burst into tears. Another toner later which turned all of my hair a tonal brown colour (still with some orange at the roots) - and another 6 hours to get it to this point). So I'd gone to her for re-growth highlights and come away after all this with horrible brown hair (which she tried to convince me was a great colour & suited me!). Upon leaving she said she'd done all she could to fix it (thrust a bag of products in my hand to take for free as she felt so bad) and that the only thing she could suggest is that I go to a salon to get it fixed & that she would pay for it. She also mentioned I could go back to her in 2 weeks for another toner & she would then highlight my hair again in 6 weeks for free (why would I go back after all this!!?). After a week of tears & really not wanting to leave the house I called my old Salon as they had all my notes & knew me. I booked in 4 weeks after and every time I washed my hair I left treatment in either overnight or for a few hours during the day. By this time my hair had turned a khaki colour and was horrific. At my old Salon they had to re-highlight all of my hair and now due to the condition of it & the length, in order to do so they had to cut over half of it off. They did a wonderful job on the colour (and cut considering I was devastated about that too) however I still have to put treatment on my hair every wash to try & get it back to a healthy condition. I sent the receipt along with a respectful letter to this hairdresser saying that after much thought I'd taken her up on her offer to pay for me to get it fixed at a Salon. She has now gone back on her word to pay to have the colour fixed (I said I was happy to pay for the cut). She said she has sought legal advice & doesn't have to pay it as it's not a refund. I would have thought it was about honouring your word & trying to fix your mistakes rather than what you legally have to do. Instead she offered me a litre of treatment for my hair (which I have refused).
