I ate here tonight came at 7pm and stayed for 2hrs. The whole time the place was packed! The service is quick and friendly. they have an outdoor eating area as well. I have the fried calamari which was pretty decent cost about $25. It was quite noisy but you could still hear yourselves.

Vanilla is a place to be seen. If you want to go out and soak up some atmosphere, people watch or lounge around for extended periods this would certainly be a place to come - it's ALWAYS busy. But there's a downside to this too. Whilst the staff are incredibly professional and work hard, it's rare to find exceptional service. Everything seems focused on keeping up and getting things done on time. The food is nice, but not great value for money - you can easily go a few doors up for a good quality, lower priced meal. The coffees aren't exceptional, but they're certainly up to scratch. If you're scouting for a place to eat as a foodie, skip vanilla and try the cakes at Dreams or Nikos, or the food at Orexi, Chez Maria's or the place with no name. But if you're catching up with someone and want it to be a long, leisurely affair, or you want to kill some time then Vanilla is a good choice

One of my favorite places in oakeligh to have a coffee in the morning or with my girlfriends, after a couple of visits the staff take the time to know your favorite drink, what cakes you like as well as asking and remembering you name.. Hint - try the baklava it is just sooo delicious

Have only had coffee and cake here numerous times (not lunch) so can't comment on that but the cakes are yummy, Greek shortbread is my favourite. When it's busy it can take a while for your order to be taken but the staff are friendly and the coffee is good so it's worth it

I love Vanilla in Oakleigh!
Always have a great time there and their service is fantastic. Thursday nights are also great as they have a band playing.

Cool place to hang out!

Approximate cost: $20

This the place to be these days! We go quite often and generally are quite happy. Have had breakfast here lunch and dinner. But when busy can take a while for your food to come out. And sometimes they don't all come out together so half would be eating and others watching. Overall great just a little slow with service!

Approximate cost: $25

I usually come in the evenings and I understand it is busy but generally I have to wait about 15 minutes for somebody who works there to acknowledge me and take my order but that being said the coffe is fantastic!!! The cakes are to die for!! And I can never pass up the meze plater & saganaki

Approximate cost: $35

I've been here a few times mostly because it's the nicest place in the strip though the food and service is very much average, ambience is quite nice and is always busy.

Great for a frappe. I tried the tiropita a few weeks ago, and was not let disappointed. Can be a bit of a wait if busy

Great variety of Greek food and Greek cakes. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is magic it feels like you are in Athens, particularly if you are sitting outside on a nice sunny day.
