Do not use The Shutter Bug by Alex!!!!
From looking at his website and blog, previous wedding photos he had done looked amazing. And after receiving a reasonable quote for our wedding photos, my partner and I requested his services. He was very friendly and answered our phone calls before the wedding day. He turned up on the wedding day with an assistant and was very professional. Before he left, he said that we would receive the photos on CD in about 4 weeks, even though the contract said 2-3 weeks, I wasnt worried. Four weeks past and we emailed him, and no reply. Weeks later we emailed and called him, no reply. About 2 months (on a Wednesday) after the wedding we received an email from him saying that he had sent the CD of photos and if we had not received them by the end of the week to contact him to arrange pickup of the photos. We both live in Melbourne, it does not take more than a week to send a CD by normal post. And of course we did not receive the CD.
I became desperate and decided to try the AIPP (aust institute of professional photographers). I had seen the AIPP sticker on his house window and a link on his website. The AIPP said that there was no 'The Shutter Bug by Alex' or his name registered as being a member ever. Great!
I contacted the service company I found him through, she was able to get a response from him and said that Alex had been sick in hospital. Why cant he write an email to say so? Yet he could reply to that lady?
We eventually ended up getting our photos, approx 4 months after the wedding. I think it was because on his facebook page, many others were waiting for their wedding photos, and were writing messages and calling him a scammer etc. THe site is now down so I dont know if they ever got it.
The photos we received were not edited at all. THere was a black and white folder but they were all awful, all too bright! But I think we got all that were taken in colour which is good, at least I can edit them myself. In the contract it didnt say that they would be edited.
But yeah it took 4 months to get average quality photos. It took so much of my time and effort and was such an emotional strain.
Again do not use The Shutter Bug by Alex!!!
