Our Shop is still not operating. Its a real pity that our little shop has operated since 1920s and now because a foreign investor wanted an Alcohol licence to use at another location we have lost our little shop.
If I am wrong, then I ask that an owner please tell us what is happening. Maybe we need to band together and buy the shop as our own community Co-op store.

Dear owner.
This is our general store, you may have purchased it, but we are your customers and we want our shop open.
Since Alison left and handed it back to you December 2017), you have done nothing in 4 months. The sign on the door says opening 3rd April , did you forget to write which year? No post office any more, that's pathetic. No food, just out of date groceries that no one can afford.
The lights are never on, the heating and Cooling are never on. The place is dirty and smells. The out buildings are not secure and will attract vandals. I think it best you just walk away from this business and get the For Sale sign up before it’s too late, because nobody wants to come to a shop which may or may not be open.
The people of Selby have had enough, please sell this business to someone local who wants to be in the centre of our community and wants to serve us professionally with a smile, in an inviting and dynamic business. If you only bought this business for the Alcohol and Tobacco licence then shame on you.
The "local shop" in Australia is more than just a business its a hub for a community. Please sell ASAP

From just one of us,
On behalf of all of us who rely on this shop being open daily.

We have no idea who owns the shop now. Maybe Steven or Kevin, these two Asian blokes have both worked there but I could not say who owns the shop. You could check with the council and they may have contact details for rates or business ABN etc. Good luck with it. I hope someone purchases it soon otherwise it will be lost forever.
I suggest a note on the door and letter under the door but dont hold your breath. We have seen noboby in or around the shop for over 3 months now.
I hope you get to have a go at resurrecting our store. Good luck.

The post office license is linked to Allison apparently. I was told that it was in the process of being sought again, before the last guy had to go back to China for family reasons. Who ever takes this over needs to seriously look at what the locals want (does not include $5 truffles and brownies), and they will have a success on their hands.

As I mention below, the store has frequently not been open during the advertised times.
Do not be deceived by the 'under renovation' sign in the window. The business owner has gone to China until April 2018.
Having people own and run the store that do not care about it are wasting a community asset. Locals wish they would move on and allow someone to resurrect it as Allison did.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who is devastated to see Allison depart the Selby General Store after such a huge all round effort to restore this local gem providing not only basic grocery items, but delicious meals, snacks, local produce and coffee as well as a well considered wine store and bottle shop. For the past year the Store has been buzzing with tradies, families, school kids and tourists. The postal service was evidently successful.
For the Store to revert to an overstocked and cramped milk bar where items quickly become out of date, that does not support local produce, that no longer provides a postal service, that no longer provides a comfortable cafe meeting place or community events, is a very sad thing.
Locals can only hope that the Store will actually be open at the advertised times and not just at the whim of the owner.

Sadly Allison had her own vision for the store, which was not commensurate with what locals wanted. Bringing back the post office was great, but the lack of provisions, expensive milk and very expensive "treats" is not what a local store needs. This store has seen many owners over the past years, and most have done extremely well out of it by providing what the locals want, not what the owners think is needed. Allison chucked a tanty and left, because of her own failings, while blaming the locals for not supporting her. In fact she was not supporting us. It is our hope that someone takes over the store who will provide what we need, and once again become the centre of this little township.

I visited this store recently for the first time and was shocked huge selection they have. From the outside it looks like a tiny store, inside it's so much bigger than expected. They have a whole liquor department, magazines and newspapers, general groceries and a mouthwatering selection of burgers and take away food. The service was very friendly and fast, they have an outdoor table and chairs and I'm looking forward to having lunch there soon!

They are a lovely general store that provide all you need plus more including milk, bread, newspapers, cooking goods, ice creams, lollies, take away food, liquor, ice and gas refills. Great local support for Selby residents.
