The service department at Roy Hill Power in Shepparton is very disappointing. I have purchased in recent years, brand new dirt bikes, ride on mowers, 4 wheel ATV, and lots of wood cutting, garden equipment and accessories. I had the ATV serviced due to rough running a while ago and suggested that it may need a carburettor kit. $500 later the bike still ran the same and it was impossible to do weed spraying at a slow speed. I did not complain and put up with the poor service until this month.

I now have a lot of urgent slow weed spraying to do and needed the bike serviced properly. I took the bike back to Roy Hill Power and explained that the problem was not fixed in the last service, I was not after any refund or compensation but I needed it fixed properly this time. The staff were very defensive and said I should have brought it back after the last service, which is correct but was just a huge hassle and to inconvenient.

They serviced the bike again after I went into great detail about the operational symptoms, provided video evidence and suggested again that it may need a carburettor kit. Another $300 later I picked up the bike and it actually ran worse than ever, I could not get the bike to keep running or idle at all and the urgent weed spraying was now impossible.

This 3rd time I took the bike back to Roy Hill Power and got a truck load of excuses why the problem wasn't fixed or how such a problem could be difficult to find but no apology. Whilst the bike was at Roy Hill Power I simply searched for the problem on the internet and discovered that it was very common and the solutions were freely available on the internet. I called the store and advised them of my discoveries and only then did they order a couple of minor carburettor parts. (Not the full kit that is freely available on line) They even had the cheek to tell me there was no such thing as a carburettor kit. A week later the bike was finally ready for pick up and on arrival I was charged another $300 including another 2 hours labour for fitting a minor tube in the carburettor (30 minutes work).

I complained to the service department about how unfair the charges were and received no apology or discount. I contacted other service providers and they confirmed that I had really been ripped off. If you need a Yamaha bike serviced I suggest you look on the internet first and then do it yourself.

Approximate cost: $1200
