We paid a visit to aquarium the last school holidays...we had to line up for about 15 mins to get in which was hard with 2 kids (6y/o & 2y/o) when we had bought tickets, the reason for hold up was a woman taking photos as you walked in. We didnt get our photo taken & thought there may be a better place to take these photos rather than holding everyone else up...
The experience was ok, with 2 small kiddies it's hard to look at everything & read signs, all they want to do is run around looking at fish...we loved the big walk through tunnels & the penguins.
It is a bit expensive to get in & couldn't believe they were charging $5 for a tiny container of food to feed fish, I thought it should have been included in entry price...
We will wait a few more years till kids are older so we can have a better look around! The kids loved the gift shop too!

Approximate cost: $92 family

I have been to the Melbourne Aquarium several times now with the most recent being during these last school holidays. Fortunately we purchased our tickets online so were able to walk past the queue of people lined up outside the door to get in!

It takes a good couple of hours to get through the entire aquarium taking time to check out all of the tanks and displays. Walking through the fish tunnel is amazing - I love looking up at the fish, sharks, rays and turtles as they swim overhead. The live feeding sessions are fascinating and the penguins are very entertaining to watch!

I really like that there is ample information displayed about all of the fish that you can see - not just their names but a little bit of history, info about their habitat etc.

Staff are friendly and helpful - they are great with children.

Keep in mind that the cafe prices are expensive.

My favorite exhibit at the Melbourne Aquarium is "A Penguins World Antarctica", the children xhriek with delight when they see the beautiful penguins. The freshwater predators and the turtle feed is marvelous too. It is very educational so we took our time absorbing and taking it all in. A great way to spend the day.

The aquarium is a great place for all ages. The shark tank alone is worth the visit - its awesome, and for a price you can scuba dive with the sharks, though it's really not cheap. Actually the aquarium itself isn't particularly cheap to visit, which is really the only downside of it. Everything else about it is interesting and fascinating.

When my parents came to visit me in Melbourne, we decided to go to Melbourne Aquarium. The staff was friendly and quick working. The penguins were comical, the sea dragons were the most impressive fish I have ever seen (I only knew them from pictures) and there is a lovely ‘moon and stars' bench to take nice photos which turned out to be THE occasion to force my parents into a soppy souvenir picture :)
Everybody enjoyed the exhibits, however we were through the building in about two hours. So I probably won't go there again, since the admission fee is quite high. But my husband and I are visiting the Aquarium Shop (you do not need to enter the Aquarium to visit the shop) every now and then as it is offering the pretty much cutest plush toys at all!

All up: The Aquarium is worth a visit, if you spend several days in Melbourne and/or you have kids, because they'll love this place!

Approximate cost: $AUD 35

Recently I performed a wedding at the Melbourne Aquarium - the food was amazingly beautiful and the service was wonderful - the staff were polilte, thoughtful, helpful and very hospitable. I don't know about the value because I had nothing to do with the cost or payment. The mini angus beef burgers were soooo yummy and the saganaki were awesome

The aquarium is a lovely place to visit however I found it to be rather expensive, especially if you have a few children to take in with you.

The staff are friendly and helpful with answering any questions you have about the sea life.
