Everybody has their staple Chinese Takeaway restaurant regardless of where you live, for us it is Mandarin Kitchen.
The staff know us by name now and always look after us. Being family run and take away only the business focuses more on the quality of their food for the local area.

Try the San Choy Bow, BBQ Pork Omelette and Beef with Black Bean (these are our favourites).

Prices have gone up slightly but so has cost of living so this is to be expected especially in small businesses.

Approximate cost: $18

In my time I have been up and down the north shore sampling food from this kind of restaurant, many have come & gone, but whenever I can I go to this one. Over time I think I may have had a few hundred meals from here, and things some times varies, depending on the day.

Over time I have experienced many different wait times, the quickest being 5 minutes on a Tuesday at Lunchtime for a simple order, The Longest being 20 minutes on a Saturday Night with a complicated or big order. Quite often I order by phone so the food is being prepared while I get there, yet this is often quite cumbersome, being only one line. When you eat, be it on one of the chairs on the street or at home, the food is wonderful, and that is what really matters.

Approximate cost: $15 average

This place is 'TAKE AWAY ONLY' meaning you can't dine in here.

They have great tasting menu, lovely lady for the service. Their price hasn't gone up too high at all, there has been small increases in the past but most dishes are still below 15 dollars.

We took away 4 dishes altogether last week cost us 54 or 56 dollars all up for dinner. We were pretty stunned at how good of a deal we got.

They do their honey chicken a little bit differently, they're unique. They're fried up real nicely (if you like it crispy that is) then you get a separate honey sauce, which I think is just honey. then you dip and enjoy the awesome taste.

Now their lunch menus have gone a little on the cheap side. Lunch menus used to offer, fried rice (GOOD QUALITY, LOTS OF HAM PRAWN ETC) for under 8 dollars. Now the fried rice don't look much like what they used to be and the price have gone up. Still, their fried rice is so much better than other places' which come with 'lunch special'

Thanks for the very detailed description of this restaurant. It sounds really great and I can definitely see myself trying this place out in the near future..
