Moving from a large house, groaning with Scottish antique furniture and paintings, to an inner-city apartment was always going to require some serious slimming down. Fortunately I was advised by a friend - a Leonard Joel devotee herself - that this particular antique dealer in Melbourne was by far the best in a competitive and, for me, confusing field. What might have been a stressful exercise on top of the turmoil of moving house, in fact proved to be a very happy experience. My point of contact at Joel’s was Chiara who proved to be not only a talented professional, but charming and reliable. Her advice proved to be 100% accurate and her suggestions on marketing our pieces very reassuring; resulting in a very good outcome at auction. I suspect the various departments of Leonard Joel’s function in a similar manner; with efficiency, professionalism and great courtesy.
