We went to the Tavern today & I was very disappointed. Our meal didn't arrive after an hour after ordering. I asked why we hadn't received & was told they would check. Our meals finally arrived and I was told was just cooked I ordered steak and the steak & sauce was cold. I then went to the counter to ask for my money back. After a couple of minutes a man turned up at our table asking if we were table something 09. I said we were table 9 & he asked what the problem was. I said my meal was cold & I requested a refund. My husband added (because he had spoken to a worker there prior & they indicated they were short staffed) that maybe you shouldn't open the restaurant if your short staffed? The man then answered This is a pub & that my husband was a grumpy old man. We decided to leave without getting our money back. We have been locals for nearly 30 years but will not go back. Also a good patron to the cheers bottle shop but no more. Sorry Annie

The meal size was very large! I was full from the entree, ( hot wings). Best I've ever had. BLUE CHEESE SAUCE....only way to go....then....not looking forward to my main due to being stuffed, I still managed to eat the very best piece of steak I can remember having in a long while....and I eat steak a lot. Cooked exactly right, pepper sauce was exquisite, I even ate the token salad! Which was more than just a garnish.
On top of all that the service was excellent, and genuine. No interruptions, and very timely. Well done all round. We will be regulars.

Very friendly staff, great food, great prices and quite large servings. Nice and quiet place. Had a pizza from the pizza bar there once before which was fantastic too.

Had dinner here with friends on a Wednesday night and there were not many other people there so I thought that might have been a bad sign. It wasn't. The food arrived quickly and were great sizes and prices. Their chips are some of the best chips I have ever tasted! I just wished there was a little bit more gravy on my chips.

Its a cool old looking tavern and has a pizza restaurant there too, but it was closed the night we went. There is a kids room inside too with games and toys. All the staff we encountered were friendly and were up for a chat. Well worth a visit in my opinion.
