This café has always been consistently great. Fantastic French options - both savoury and sweet. Terrific coffee and friendly staff. This café has now closed down now and has been rebranded under the new name of "Dolce Vita". Same great service and staff but new menu options that are still terrific.

Ok cafe to go to for quick break from shopping or a quick catch up. We were there later in the afternoon which might explain the lack of atmosphere and service but we found it lacking in food, coffee and service. The people were friendly to the other patrons but seemed to miss us entirely. We were a few cents short of a gingerbread man and received a smile when we thought aloud about buying one and if we could afford it... and the next customer who came in got one for free for their kid. Coffee was ok but too milky and not quite right. We won't be back and it's not just about the gingerbread man.

Tried the big breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and I'd chosen the brioche bread for the toast - it was thick and tasted great. The wilted spinach was also just right and not over-cooked. Same for the mushrooms. A nice touch to have the baked beans in a small separate bowl on the plate so that they didn't spill over onto the rest of the food (and make the toast soggy). Tried a watermelon/apple/lime juice which was a perfect palate cleanser but also just plain delicious and went really with my food although I'd planned to order coffee originally. Finished the meal with a coffee, which was excellent. Their small fruit tarts and cakes are hard to beat if you just want coffee and something to munch on. A really good place to go for breakfast out - plenty of variety on the menu. Have recommended it to all my friends.

We love it here. The coffee is great (although my husband is not a fan of their soy milk) and the food is always delicious. We love the eggs Benedict which are served on delicious brioche and the hollandaise sauce is amazing. Cakes are also delicious, great for coffee and cake or a light meal.

I've been here a few times over the past 12 months and have always enjoyed the food. Last time i was here i thoroughly enjoyed the french toast. It was a generous serve, garnished with fresh strawberries, delicious salty crispy bacon and dusted with icing sugar. It came with maple syrup on the side as well as a side serve of cream cheese and the best strawberry jam that i have tasted. I washed it down with watermelon and mint juice which probably isn't the right drink to have with such a sweet dish but the juice was lovely nonetheless.

I couldnt help but feel that the atmosphere in the cafe has somewhat declined over the past 6 months which is a shame and i'm hoping that this will improve and get back to the cute boutique french patisserie it once was.

These guys have the best French toast I've had in the inner West. It comes with fresh, flakey, buttery artisan bread drizzled with maple syrup and served with thick cream and a slice of crisp bacon.

They also serve decent French wine on Saturdays (though not, for some reason, on Sundays) and brew up great coffee.

Their baguettes, soups and pies are also excellent: good, tasty Euro-centric food for a very reasonable price. Beside these yummy treats sit a range of sweets and chocolates supplied by the French chef at Shocolate (Fitzroy). It's almost impossible to leave Cafe Luis without tucking into something sweet first.

The vibe here is casual and family-friendly, with a large table out the back for bigger groups.

Recommended.

Nice place, and the food is gorgeous, but overpriced and not much variety. Typically French and very decadent, but not enough on offer

When I'm in the area, I love to stop by Luis to grab a delicious pastry, or stick around for breakfast if I can - the pastries are delicious, and the Croque Monsieur is a triumph of brioche, cheese and ham!

I had a Delicious almond croissant, among one of the very best I have tasted!! The breakfast menu is good and the cafe really emphasises on all that is french!
