I visit Port Douglas each year and my trip is not complete without dinner at Nautilus. The atmosphere, the service, the cocktails, the food - everything is 5 star. In all my years I have never had a bad experience or bad meal here. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Funky and fresh salon. Staff are well-trained and incredibly knowledgeable. Best cut and colour I've ever had. Awesome hairstylists like Bill and his team are hard to find.
I love this place so much. Each year when I visit Port Douglas, I come here every morning for my coffee (and a muffin or pastry). I'm old-school so I love actual "old-fashioned" bookshops and this place has such a warm and wonderful vibe.
Everyone I know had been raving about this place so I was dying to try it. As we arrived, I eye other diners’ meals and they looked fantastic! The first thing that caught my eye was the “No Variations” on the menu. This really annoys me when I see this because as a paying customer if I want to remove something from the meal I am paying for, I should be able to. I do understand that kitchens can’t make huge or numerous variations, but variations within reason should always be allowed to paying customers. So I thought it couldn’t hurt to at least ask. I was dying to try the burger I had heard so much about but I asked if I could have it without the relish because I can’t eat anything with tomato for medical reasons. I figured surely this won’t be a problem, how hard is it to just not put some relish on as you’re assembling the burger? Well harder than one would imagine. The waitress informed me that she can note my request but, and I quote, “it depends on the Chef’s mood if he does it or not”. I explained that it was a medical thing and I needed to know because if the burger came with relish on it then I couldn’t eat it. She said she would be sure to let him know. The burger arrived and it looked so, so good. Until I saw the relish. I called the waitress back and told her there was relish on my burger and her suggestion was to scrape it off. It was at that point we got up and left. Service like this is absolutely unacceptable. And it’s a real shame because the food looked lovely but I am fussy about where I spend my hard-earned money and I will never again return to this place after appalling service like that.
Approximate cost: $25
I LOVE cupcakes. I am a cupcake junkie so I was very excited when this place opened. The cupcakes looked gorgeous and there was a great range. I was a bit surprised and confused when the staff said the cupcakes didn't need to be refrigerated and had a shelf-life of x amount of days. But I bought some anyway. I wish I hadn't. The taste wasn't great. A lot like the packaged rubbish you get from a supermarket. I'm guessing they are made like the ones in the supermarket, hence the no refrigeration and long shelf life. Personally I prefer fresh cupcakes with fresh ingredients and no preservatives. Staff were lovely though, couldn't fault their service.
Great service and great food. Love the outdoor dining in Town Square on a warm afternoon/evening. There can be a long wait when they're busy and sometimes they the lovely staff seem to be a bit overwhelmed when busy - perhaps more staff are needed?
I have been stopping in here for years on my way home from the City to indulge in quiche and cakes and I have never had a bad experience. The staff are lovely and all the cakes and pastries are fresh and beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.
The staff at this nursery at not only incredibly knowledgeable but very helpful and patient with people like myself who know nothing about plants and gardening! They answered all my questions and helped me select the right plants for a garden bed I was working on. Highly recommend.
I have been visiting La Brioche since I was a child. Everything they make is perfect, fresh and oh so yummy! The staff are lovely and happily let me point at what I want because my French pronunciation is terrible! A real little gem hidden in the south of Croydon :-)
This IGA has a fantastic range of niche products you would normally only find in specialty stores. However the prices in some cases for these products are higher than I pay in specialty stores in Doncaster. The service isn't fantastic. Their little coffee area is a great idea however the staff are not always friendly or efficient. They make coffees out of order if a regular or someone they know comes in, which isn't fair on others who have waited their turn in line. The muffins they make themselves are fresh and delicious but the pastries they get in from the Hungarian Bakehouse are NOT fresh every day, despite what they tell customers (funny how they have "fresh" pastries from the Bakehouse on days they are closed). They are often a day or two old. If you're after a pastry, you're better off heading down the road and visiting the Hungarian Bakehouse directly.
