Not being a pretentious, desperate tryhard like a certain reviewer on another site, I don't need a separate room of a cafe to be in if there are too many people of a certain age or a certain gender [or not enough people sufficiently clone-like to myself] there. I just look for very good, fresh ingredients, free-rangeness of eggs and good cooking. Lulabellas has all of the above in unusually high proportions.

I write this because I was there at the arse end of the week when ingredients were getting low and they went especially across to Leos to get them so that I and my compadre could have poached egg breakfasts which as it turned out neither of us could in living memory ever recall any better than. The making of a poached egg breakfast is an art that Lulabelles resident chef has well and truly down. We agreed between smiles of joy that it was excellent. The scone with Jam and cream was for a greedyguts like me absolutely rapturous. They look like ordinary scones, but they're not. They're light, moist and soft beyond any likely prior expectation.

It should have been said at the start that the coffee is serious. in Impact font. It is not dismissable as suburban wasteland coffee. It is the real, very good thing.

Other attributes which many might not think are all that important but which to me are critical: the people that run this and the people they have working for them are good, warm hearted people who even organise morning teas where the proceeds go to cancer research. You can be happy and laugh here, not feeling stressed by any strained vibe at all. Perfect relaxation. The chairs are actually comfortable and the tables of generous size and spaced nice and far apart. I plan on bringing a frail elderly friend there soon, who needs heaps of space for his wheeled walker to turn around and park. We all get old and many of us reproduce and a cafe that includes us all in its intelligent design is a good thing.

It was a cool day with a fresh breeze outside. The low angled autumn sun that will be excluded by the verandah awning in summer shone in and warmed me. I was in a clean, bright space with nice people around me, in yumminess heaven. What more could you want.

Wether a book, new mug, something for the kids and apron etc.. They also ahev a room upstairs for mothers groups or a small getherign of friends available (bookings taken) A small garden area ouside is great in summer for sitting in teh sun. I recommend the hot chocolates, yummy!
