I can't comment on extensive motor repair work. However I did put my car in for a roadworthy certificate and I must say, don't go here for a RWC. The guy wouldn't pass it until I got my entire front windscreen replaced. He claims there are chips all over it but they are tiny little spots, probably from poor sandblasting of the glass, you can't even see them until you put your nose right up to the glass and slant your head to look at it in the right lighting. You can't even feel them when you run your hand over the glass. There was a little scratch from the end of one of the windscreen wipers. But go to vicroads website and download the standards - it says the windscreen should not be rejected if it is not scratched or chipped to the extent that it is unsafe for the driver to drive. When I mentioned this to him, he said he's the one with the license, not me.
I know I'm not qualified, but I am the driver and it is definitely not that bad, I can see perfectly fine from my seat. Moreover, I wasn't prepared to waste more of my time (or one cent more than the $70 I already paid him) so took it to another place that said the windscreen was fine to pass.
The Good:
It was close to my home
